Distorting the Gospel | Galatians 1:6-10
In Galatians 1:6–10, Paul expresses his astonishment that the Galatian churches were so quickly abandoning the true gospel of God's grace for a distorted message. The sermon explains that deserting the gospel is a serious matter, as false teachings often appear convincing while subtly shifting attention away from Christ and His finished work on the cross. Various counterfeit gospels—including moralistic, prosperity, social, therapeutic, and easy-believism teachings—are examined to show how they undermine the sufficiency of Christ and the doctrine of salvation by grace alone.
Paul's warning emphasizes that there is only one true gospel, and any message that alters it must be firmly rejected. Believers are encouraged to guard their hearts, test every teaching against Scripture, and prioritize faithfulness to Christ over the approval of people. Ultimately, this message calls Christians to cherish, defend, and faithfully proclaim the gospel while remaining vigilant against error and growing in the truth of God's Word.
