The Book of James

Godly Works Are The Proof Of Our Godly Transformation (Part 2)

James 2:20-21

When a person is born again, Scripture tells us that something far greater than a mere change of belief takes place. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). But what exactly happens in the heart and life of someone who becomes a true believer? Ezekiel 36:26–27 gives us the answer: God Himself gives us a new heart, places a new spirit within us, removes the heart of stone, and causes us to walk in His statutes.

This raises the central questions before us:
What does this God-given transformation truly look like? What marks the life of someone who has been made new by Christ? And how do godly works prove the reality of that transformation?

About This Series

The Book of James

The book of James will look piercingly into our lives and how we behave and conduct ourselves, and will force us to see where we are not being who we ought to be in Christ. Are we truly living out in our lives Christ Jesus, who is truly living in us. My prayer is that as we go through this series—and according to the Lord’s will, I estimate this series to go on for about 23 Sundays at the minimum—that the Holy Spirit, as nobody else can, will do surgery on every one of our hearts and minds, so that Sunday after Sunday after Sunday, we are surrendering more and more of our hypocrisies and weaknesses in repentance to Him, but also maturing and being transformed more and more into Christlikeness.
