Introduction to Galatians

Ray Caguin
06/07/2026

As we begin our study of Galatians, we are reminded that the gospel of Jesus Christ must be carefully guarded and faithfully proclaimed. The churches in Galatia were planted by Paul during his first missionary journey, yet shortly afterward false teachers began introducing teachings that distorted the gospel of grace. Their message was simple: faith in Christ was not enough and something needed to be added to it.

Paul writes this letter to confront that error and to defend the truth that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Any teaching that adds human works, religious performance, or traditions as a requirement for salvation is no gospel at all. Galatians therefore stands as a powerful reminder that our standing before God rests entirely upon the finished work of Christ and not upon anything we contribute. As we journey through this letter together, may we grow in our understanding, appreciation, and confidence in the glorious gospel of God's grace.
