True Faith Is Proven Through Unwavering Obedience (Part 2)
In this sermon, we explore James’ striking use of Rahab as an example of genuine, saving faith, an example that stands alongside Abraham yet comes from the most unexpected background. James 2:25–26 invites us to see how true faith is never a mere profession but a living reality that expresses itself through obedience shaped by God’s transforming grace.
This message walks through the Old Testament account in Joshua 2, tracing Rahab’s courageous actions, the immense risks she faced, and the remarkable confession of faith that flowed from what she had heard about the God of Israel. We reflect on the complexity of her situation, the costliness of her obedience, and the way God receives imperfect yet sincere acts done out of reverence for Him.
More than a historical episode, Rahab’s story becomes a vivid portrait of the gospel’s reach, showing that salvation is never about pedigree, background, or personal merit, but about God’s gracious call that transforms sinners into His own. Her life points forward to God’s redemptive plan, culminating in her place within the Messianic line, reminding us that no story is beyond the reach of His mercy.

About This Series
The Book of James
The book of James will look piercingly into our lives and how we behave and conduct ourselves, and will force us to see where we are not being who we ought to be in Christ. Are we truly living out in our lives Christ Jesus, who is truly living in us. My prayer is that as we go through this series—and according to the Lord’s will, I estimate this series to go on for about 23 Sundays at the minimum—that the Holy Spirit, as nobody else can, will do surgery on every one of our hearts and minds, so that Sunday after Sunday after Sunday, we are surrendering more and more of our hypocrisies and weaknesses in repentance to Him, but also maturing and being transformed more and more into Christlikeness.
