True Wisdom (Part 5)
As we come to the final part of James’ teaching in James 3:13–18, Scripture narrows our focus and directs our attention to wisdom alone. After exposing false wisdom and its destructive fruits, James now sets before us the nature, character, and outcome of the wisdom that comes from above.
This concluding message is devoted entirely to true wisdom. It reminds us that biblical wisdom is not merely the absence of jealousy or selfish ambition, but the presence of God-given virtues that flow from a heart transformed by grace. Wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. It is wisdom that reflects the character of Christ and submits fully to the authority of God’s Word.
This final exhortation calls us to consider how wisdom shapes every area of the Christian life. True wisdom does not create division or disorder, but produces peace and righteousness as it is lived out among God’s people. It is not achieved by human intellect or effort, but received from God and cultivated through humble obedience and reverential fear of the Lord.
May the Lord use this final portion of James’ instruction to anchor us firmly in wisdom from above, that our lives and our church may be marked by peace, holiness, and the fruit of righteousness, all to the glory of God alone.

About This Series
The Book of James
The book of James will look piercingly into our lives and how we behave and conduct ourselves, and will force us to see where we are not being who we ought to be in Christ. Are we truly living out in our lives Christ Jesus, who is truly living in us. My prayer is that as we go through this series—and according to the Lord’s will, I estimate this series to go on for about 23 Sundays at the minimum—that the Holy Spirit, as nobody else can, will do surgery on every one of our hearts and minds, so that Sunday after Sunday after Sunday, we are surrendering more and more of our hypocrisies and weaknesses in repentance to Him, but also maturing and being transformed more and more into Christlikeness.
