Pruning, Persevering, and Proclaiming the Truth
In this session, we are invited to think carefully and biblically about the process of spiritual growth, discipline, and discernment in the life of the believer and the church. As we reflect on the idea of pruning, we are reminded that God’s work in our lives is often uncomfortable, humbling, and deeply refining. Scripture teaches us that pruning is not punishment, but a gracious work of God to produce greater fruit, deeper holiness, and stronger dependence on Him.
This discussion challenges us to examine how we interpret seasons of difficulty, correction, and even conflict within the church. It calls us to discern carefully between what is truly God’s pruning and what may instead be the result of unaddressed sin, immaturity, or disobedience. We are reminded that not every hardship is discipline, and not every painful experience is proof of faithfulness. True spiritual discernment requires humility, self-examination, and submission to the authority of God’s Word.
As we reflect on this topic, we are encouraged to approach these matters with wisdom, patience, and humility, recognizing that God’s work of sanctification often unfolds gradually. This session ultimately calls us to trust the Lord’s refining work, to walk in repentance and obedience, and to respond to both correction and growth with a heart that desires Christ above all else.
About Thinking Biblically
Thinking Biblically
Thinking Biblically is a ministry which aims to point people to Christ and scripture in answering and addressing the realities of this fallen world. Every 4th Sunday of the Month, CCRC holds a question and answer for its flock right after service to help people think biblically on issues and matters relevant to people. There are also blogs and articles made under this same spirit of pointing people to the Word on anything and everything. May these articles and discussions exalt the name of Christ and His Words in your life!
